Dr. Nitobe's Garden of Peace, 2000
Pruned arboreal patterns and encoded Eastern spirituality make Nitobe Garden, on the grounds of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, a rare and special destination. After the weaving was complete, Docents of the Garden saw the tapestry and informed the artist that the seven-story pagoda she had woven into the centre field is linked to the Japanese festival of Tanabata, the festival of the Weaver.
